The Social Entrepreneurs Project is a charity-led initiative, unique in that it provides outstanding opportunities, in equal measure, to both the current generation of African orphans and the next generation of UK leaders.
For young people in the UK, the SEP is a groundbreaking initiative which introduces entrepreneurial skills to the classroom setting. Given 'seed capital' at the start of the project, the pupils have the opportunity to come up with creative and resourceful ways of making money. Furthermore, by having access to an entrepreneurial business model and professional advice, pupils will learn invaluable marketing, finance and commercial skills in a practical setting.
The SEP also provides pupils with a wider social education, as all profits are donated to HOPEHIV, an international charity working with children who have been orphaned by the HIV/AIDS pandemic in sub-Saharan Africa. UK pupils will discover how their creativity, determination and talent, forms an integral part of a process that HOPEHIV believes is the key to reversing the fortunes of some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children in the world. This is because every penny of the money raised by pupils will help to provide African orphans with the leadership development, skills training and psycho-social and educational support that will enable them to re-build their lives and benefit their communities.
By the end of the project, pupils will have learned key skills. Perhaps more importantly, they will know what it means and feels like to make a real difference, not just for today, but for the future of a whole generation of African orphans.
